This school has been operating since 1962. All three of our children attended 2 years of preschool + kindergarten here. Their experience here could be described as extremely happy, stimulating, and productive. We didn't really need to do a lot of comparison shopping before we made our decision to enroll our children here. We had already done a ton of reading on the Montessori method and once we visited the school, we were sold. The two sided mirrors allow you to observe all of the classrooms. The proof was in the pudding. We had visited a few other preschools but nothing was even in the same stratosphere as this school. The children spent some of their time actively engaged in "works" which were stimulating and self-correcting which allowed them to develop independently or in small groups with very little involvement from the teachers. Other portions of the day were spent on directed instruction from the teachers on a plethora of topics including art appreciation, geophraphy, biology, world peace, reading, and yoga (our daughter's personal favorite). The tools in the rooms are all standard Montessori materials that you will find in any accredited Montessori school in the US. The math beads which allow the children to work independently never ceased to amaze us. I think the most telling thing about the school is that all three of our children describe those years as the most "useful", "interesting", and "fun" part of their educations thus far. If you are considering this school, you should get on the waiting list immediately. It can be as long as 2 years. The other added bonus...the friends our children made in Montessori are still their friends today: 5, 7, and 9 years post-graduation.
