We used Via to go from Prince George to Prince Rupert. We left at 8 am from Prince George (actually 8:10 ish but what's 10 minutes right?). To drive would take about 8 to 9 hours, so the estimated time on the train of 12 hours (arriving at 8:30 pm) seemed ok. Passenger trains are second fiddle to cargo trains obviously as more money to be made from cargo. We arrived at the Prince Rupert station at 11:00pm after sitting and waiting for a cargo train to go by 10 minutes from the station. On the way to our hotel, we were told we were actually "early" comparatively speaking as trains arrive at 1:30 am, 3:30 am 6:30 am and everything in between and never at 8:30 pm. We did have a return ticket back to Prince George, but we will be returning by Greyhound. At least we know they will take 10 hours and not 12 or 14 or 20 hours to get back. Used Via once and never again. Waste of money and especially time.
