"Okay you win" - boyfriend. My boyfriend admitted defeat when after a year of raving about how orgasmic these butter tarts are, he's finally been able to try one...or two... okay maybe the entire half dozen. Hands down, I think these are the best butter tarts in the city. Bold statement to make as a foodie that typically doesn't appreciate the traditional butter tart. There's something about the butter tarts baked here that I can't deny. The only trouble is that 3 out of 4 attempts I make to come here, the shop is closed or on vacation. I joked with my boyfriend that this shop is almost as difficult to patron as the Golden Gate Bakery in San Francisco. Maybe someone will start a twitter handle to crowd source hours of operation. Great news though, DPS is now opened 7 days a week this summer! Now to the important message - what to order: - Butter or Pecan butter tarts (~$1.65) - Portuguese egg tarts ($1.65 each or save $1 for every 6 tarts) - Custard Almond Danishes - logs (~$9); rounds Too eager to eat this time, but will post up photos the next time I come back! Cash only.
