DO NOT SHOP HERE! Poor pet care advice, miserable human beings, pets that aren't cared for properly.
I signed up for Yelp just so I could write this review. Bought a bearded dragon and everything the store associate told us to buy for his care - spent several hundred dollars. Associate presented herself as a bearded dragon owner and expert. Took him home and followed the care instructions given by Petco. Seven weeks later dragon developed metabolic bone disease thanks to the garbage advice Petco gave us on the care. We did our research but it was too late.
Took him to the vet and incurred several hundred more dollars to start to correct the dragon's health. He probably will never fully recover. Filed a claim against Petco to try and recover some of the money we spent there on garbage that was not necessary for the pet (harmful substrate, insufficient lightning, etc.). Claims person blamed us for the dragon's condition - said we waited to long to go to the vet and we signed the Pet Agreement so Petco was off the hook.
Two bits of advice: 1.) NEVER listen to the care advice anyone gives you at this Petco. Do your own research - we feel stupid for not doing this earlier. and 2.) shop at PetSmart. Their animals are in much better condition, their associates are much more friendly and knowledgeable. We will never shop at Petco again.
