Tacos Locos (confusingly, it is not related to the former Taco Loco) is a food truck permanently located in the parking lot of El Progreso grocery in Champaign. There is one picnic table next tot he truck, so your best bet is to get take away. We've visited three times and so far have tried the alambres, burritos, and tacos. All were as good as anywhere in town, better in fact than at most of the "sit down" Mexican restaurants. The alambres were large and delicious. The meats were just this side of crispy, with a nice variety of cuts, and perfectly spiced. The green sauce was excellent, and the tortillas were obviously freshly made in house. The tacos were large and stuffed with meat, cilantro, and onions. And the burritos, like the alambres, could serve for two meals for many. Prices range from about $1 for drinks and elotes (Mexican style street corn) to about $2.50 for tacos and $10 for alambres. Small, unassuming, and worth patronizing.
