What can really be said about Fry's that isn't qualified with a negative experience? Staff are often poorly educated about the products they sell, they are willing to lie to get sales, and the floor is often poorly organized. Sometimes you'll get someone who really knows their stuff, but it's pretty rare.
Still, they have supplies for computers that you generally can't get anywhere else and often have the best prices for a brick and mortar store. I mean where else can you get a low profile computer case, several different sized fans, as well as an SSD mount in Vegas?
Recently we grabbed a TV here and they gave us the best price we found by nearly $200 - given that we got the 2 year warranty included and then returned it (as hinted by the department manager). At the same time, we were led to believe we would get the deal tax-free through one of their advertisements and were received by short and condescending cashiers who felt that we didn't take the time to read the advertisement. Of course, it had nothing to do with that but with the package deal not being applicable to the tax-free deal. In the end, we still saved a good amount.
I've been shopping at Frys for many years and usually I just grab what I need and go, avoiding interactions with their employees as much as possible. Unfortunately, it's not always possible, but it still has the best selection of niche electronics and items like cables and wires that can't be easily found.
