We bought a cake here for my dad's 56th birthday and unfortunately it was quite a disappointment.
The cake was very dry and did not seem fresh. Its like they premake the crusts or whatever you call them and use them as needed. The flavor was OK but they were not fresh and moist as one would reasonably expect.
That said, they have very good frosting...excellent even. Velvet smooth, not overly sweet, and seeminly a touch of vanilla in there. Really wonderful frosting. Decorating was pretty well done also.
Unfortunately, when buying for a special occasion and for someone special, one expects an excellent product(why else chose a bakery over a grocery store) and Potomac Bakery did not deliver. It was disappoibting and slightly embarassing even.
Who knows, maybe we will give them another shot for the frosting. If they get the cake right in the future I will change my rating to a 5.
