I booked this location for our annual company dinner that being said this review will only cover large party service (60+)
The location is a few miles off the strip with valet parking. Lawry's boasts a very House of Prime Rib (San Francisco) look and feel. Decorated in old school steakhouse fashion with dark woods and antique decor. The staff is dressed in full uniform with the females wearing what looked like to me WWII nurse outfits complete with the little white hat. I understand this is supposed to add to the charm of the location but for me it made me feel like I was in a hospital.
Our function was located in one of the two private rooms. Lawry's has one room with fits up to 70 and another room for parties greater than 70. I found the mismatched chairs at the tables odd and cheesy looking. We had picked one of the set banquet options which included: appetizers, famous salad, bread, one vegetable, prime rib, chicken or salmon and dessert. Upgrades for meat size, shrimp cocktails and lobster tails were also available. The base price of this dinner was pretty reasonable in the $65 range per person.
The appetizers were quite good with chicken satay, mozzarella tomato skewers and mushroom bruschetta being served. Servers carried platters around to each table and visited each table at least three times. A big part of the charm of Lawry's is the presentation ie the mixing of the salad and slicing of your prime rib from the huge rolling meat station. Unfortunately since this was a big party we really didn't get to enjoy that aspect of the meal. The creamed corn, mashed potatoes and Yorkshire pudding were all delicious. The salad lacked flavor most likely the dressing was not strong enough. Several people at our table ordered the lobster tail and they were all terrible. We actually had to ask Lawry's to remove them from our tab as they were small chewy and just not fresh. The prime rib was good but not great. My 16 oz cut had way to much gristle making a large portion of it inedible. Two people on my table ordered the 22 oz cut and they didn't look anything alike! One cut being much larger than the other. Desert was chocolate molten cake and it was so sweet I could not eat it. Dinner also included tea, coffee or milk. The coffee was strong and tasty.
For now I am assuming the quality of our meal was impacted by the fact we had a large banquet type service and rating this experience 3 stars. Overall the wait staff provided excellent drink and meal service and combined with Lawry's customer awards program this is a solid choice for your company function.
