I honestly don't understand the hype. A couple friends and I had gone here after hearing about how amazing this establishment is. Always seeing the long lines whenever eating in the neighboring establishments, we had always passed up on coming until now. Monta Ramen is in the literal hub of Chinatown, as everything here boosts popularity. From Zen, Trattoria Nakamura-ya, Snowflake Shavery, and Raku, be warned that finding a parking spot during busier times can be almost impossible. We were promptly seated as soon as a table was available for us. If there is a wait, I suggest figuring out what you want before being seated. The servers here work efficiently, so be prepared! I ordered the Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen. Prices were pretty cheap and there are extra toppings for you to add. Be warned as these add-ons are are lot more expensive than other ramen joints in town. As much as I wanted to like the food, I couldn't. The broth was thick, creamy, and filled with so much sodium I felt parched shortly after attempting to drink the broth. I couldn't taste much else from the ramen because of how heavy and salty the broth was. The other two in my group seemed to agree, as we all usually finished our ramen bowls from other restaurants, but suddenly had a hard time finishing half these bowls. We felt sick after leaving the restaurant. As popular as this place is, I really cannot see why. Maybe it was a bad day and I will someday give this place another try. But for now, I'd rather go to a ramen place that doesn't make me feel nauseous.
