This review is based on my opinion after having to cancel and reading the contract concerning my deposit. After reading the contract front to back, I am glad I did not rent from here. I was making a reservation about two months out from my event. After looking at the RV I decided to make a reservation. I called and they took my credit card information then sent me the contract. I had not signed nor returned the contract and my card had been billed. The reason I cancelled was that my father decided he did not want to stay in an RV this year and instead wanted to be in a hotel. At his age I did not want to argue so I called back within two days of making the initial contact to cancel the reservation. I was told that I would forfeit $50 for a cancellation. Granted it does state that in the contract, however I had not signed and returned the contract at this point. And the fact that it had only been two days, it seems like poor business practice to keep $50 for providing very little in return. I'm sure there was no request they had to turn down because of me. Regardless I read deeper into he contract and was not happy with how it is worded. Do not expect any service from them beyond providing a "safe vehicle". Page 9 states clearly "we are in the business of time" and they make it clear. If you have any equipment malfunctions that you are on your own. Refrigerator goes inop, do not expect any refund. The contract is amazingly biased toward protecting the company at every angle. I am sensitive to this as I used to manage an equipment rental company which is very similar to RV's. If a customer retuned and had experienced a mechanical problem with the item, I would have refunded some of the fee or made arrangements to make it better. If a customer had to cancel and explained his circumstance, I'd refund his deposit so that they would want to return again. After reading the contract here, I would not expect anything. The point of all this is BUYER (RENTER) BEWARE! I have rented RV's for this event for the past 6 years and not seen a contract so restricting. I will not return here or recommend Back Roads to anyone.
