yes, the donuts are expensive... so consider this place an indulgence
That being said, I really like the owners... I met Kathi's husband at a gas station a while back when he was gassing up their truck and have been a fan of the donuts ever since. When I come in and they don't have any zebra donuts (my daughter's favorite), Kathi wastes no time in drizzling chocolate sauce on one of the vanilla bean donuts to make it a zebra for me!
Let me pause here to say one thing: GET THE APPLE FRITTER. It is the best fritter I've had. HUGE!! One day, Kathi said "sorry the fritters came out a little small today... I'm going to give you two of them" (they were not small, BTW but I wasn't going to argue!!!).
Anyway, step outside of your donut comfort zone (meaning spending nine bucks for a dozen mass produced glazed donuts) and enjoy hand crafted, inspired flavors.
Indulge yourself every once in a while and do it at Sugar!
