Well, the Microsoft Store has had my computer for nearly two weeks now. Thank god I paid an extra $200 for Microsoft Assure. Now Microsoft can be assured I will never spend another dollar in their stores or on their products. I gave these fools the benefit of the doubt the first five times I went in there. Never again.
It's unbelievable that a company as large and successful as Microsoft claims a retail operation that is as poorly run as theirs. The level of service is LAUGHABLE. Not because anybody is rude. In fact, the only reason this is a two star review is because your employees are very nice and very willing to help. The problem is that they aren't put in any sort of position to do such a thing. The two launches I've been to were absolute chaos being run by under-prepared and dismissive employees who don't know the difference between a processor and RAM. Do I stand in the front or do I stand in the back? You have no idea? GREAT! I'll just stand in the middle of this orgy of people.
Other times, the employees were VERY nice, but couldn't tell me anything about any of the computers that I was looking at. Seriously, you can't tell me which computers have an HDMI port? You don't even know what an HDMI port is? Really? The lady who "helped" me with my broken computer at the "Answers Bar" (cracked screen and a bad hard drive) hardly looked at me and could barely offer a single word of consolation after telling me my work machine was going to be out of commission for two weeks (what she assured me was a "safe" estimate, just to set a "reasonable" expectation). This two week estimate stands in stark contrast to the description of Microsoft Assure I received from the gentleman I bought my computer from. HOW IS IT THAT LITERALLY EVERYBODY IN YOUR STORES IS UNDERTRAINED? Again, nothing personal, everybody has been pretty nice, but nice doesn't make me feel comfortable with giving you guys another grand. Good service and a good product does.
You guys manage to surprise me every single time I come into that store. It's crazy that your retail location actually turned me off from your products and services, when it's very existence is supposed to serve the exact opposite purpose. I would have posted this on your Facebook page, but guess what, you have that functionality turned off. Not like anybody is going to respond to this anyways. Thanks for nothing. At least my expectations are in check with the piss poor level of service that you're capable of providing.
