I turned to acupuncture after it was recommended to me by my neurologist for migraines and persistent stress headaches. I was at the point where I was getting a headache every week for three days a time. The first time I went to Modern Acupuncture, everyone was SO friendly and made me feel comfortable in an unfamiliar environment. For the first month, I went about 2 or 3 times a week, and then I noticed that it had been 2 weeks without a headache. The one headache I did have only last half a day. I felt a headache coming on yesterday, and after a session with Erica it immediately went away. I'm so relieved to have found something that works. Besides the benefits of acupuncture, there is a calmness about the Zen Den that forces you to relax for 30 minutes or so, which in and of itself is helpful for stress. I know one of the first questions is if the needles hurt. I'm very sensitive to touch and I have to say that, honestly, sometimes they do at first. I've gotten used to them, but there are always one or two spots where it stings a little at first. I've also learned those are the spots where I hold most of my tension. The acupuncturists are aware of this, so we always kind of laugh about it a little, which relaxes me. Oh, and be prepared for a great night's sleep!
