For years, I went to at least three films a month at Sundance and usually purchased popcorn as well. I enjoyed the choice of drinks and snacks, no adverts, three previews, decent rewards program and friendly staff. Prices were reasonable and the $6 Tuesdays were a budget friendly option. So far in June and July, I have gone to AMC Dine-In Madison 6 twice (once a month) because the experience is more expensive, has numerous adverts, half a dozen previews, a $15 annual fee for a decent rewards program and a corporate environment. What's to like? Almost nothing. I can get that experience at most of the other theaters in town but at lower prices. And I can see most of the independent and art house films that have played there so far at another theater for less. Early bird specials elsewhere are far less. The new owners would do well to do some patron experience research sooner rather than later. Changes have produced a serious backlash among loyal Sundance patrons of yore.
