We just checked in at Caesars. Being a Bobby Flay fan, we headed straight to Mesa Grill. Hostess fit us in even though it was busy. Great start. Server took 7 minutes to get to our table and when he did never introduced himself or gave us his name, just jumped straight in to "What can I get ya?" All horrible by any restaurant standards. He seemed either overwhelmed, poorly trained or distracted. I'm a service freak so it usually sets me on edge when someone can't concentrate on the most important function of their role.
Then we received our meals and all was well with the world. I had the lamb with Serrano chile sauce that was so good I wanted to throw my plate across the room! All meals excellent. Server inattentive and never swung by the table to check on us. We had to flag someone else down for drinks and refills.
Then, in keeping with the evening, the server, though our plates were cleared, didn't come back to the table for a very long time. We again flagged someone down to find him so we could get our check and leave. At that point we were frustrated and skipped dessert.
I have the utmost respect for Mr. Flay. The food was fantastic. The service unfortunately lived far below the reputation his name should engender. I'll consider it an anomaly and hopefully the server has moved on and is working somewhere else. Food 5 stars, service 1 star. 4 stars out of respect for Bobby Flay. We'll try it again and hope to have good service.
