Food was pretty good. I had eggplant parm with pasta. He had an alfredo dish with Cajun shrimp. The marinara was a little orange and a little too sweet for my liking, but that is just personal preference. If you like tangy sauce, you may not like it. The eggplant tasted like it had a little nutmeg. Excellent. The alfredo and shrimp. Excellent.
They bring fresh bread after you order your drink with a thick pesto olive oil. Very good.
We had the tuna tartare for an appetizer. Very good.
Now, the reason for only three stars. You guessed it - service. Marco G was prompt when we arrived, getting our drinks fairly quickly.
A few minutes later when the bread was gone, so was Marco. The kitchen area has a glass window, so you can see all of the guys in back - talking, laughing, eating with their mouths open, and showing each other stuff on their cell phones. More laughing. Meanwhile, boyfriend's drink runs out, and it's 30 minutes later and we don't have our entrees.
I can see this being the type of restaurant where it's about Italian family (most of the men had hair to their shoulders) where everyone is one big family and guests are included. This could be okay for someone who is drinking wine and hanging out for a two hour dinner. We were not.
Oh, and the fungus nats from the plants were bothersome. I told the girl on the way out that if they put an inch of sand in their plants, it should stop that problem. They are attracted to vinegar, which of course, I had balsamic on the table in a little bowl that I had to constantly watch.
So overall, good food for a decent price, if you have a couple hours. We will not be returning.
