If you're not sure what you want, or have a hard time communicating your requirements, you can look through a book full of different hair-styles and pick one you like. He'll also offer some suggestions. Hard for me to say whether the result is similar to the ones in the books cause the books I look through are full of handsome men with certain face shapes.
Yelp says appointment only but that largely depends on what you need done and how busy the place is. I haven't been turned away from a walk-in before, but it's probably cause it doesn't take much time to cut my hair and it wasn't particularly busy during those times.
It's not an $8 haircut like the ones you can find in chinatown, or those $15-20 places, but I've never been to those places so it's hard for me to put together a set of criteria beyond service, cleanliness, efficiency, and satisfaction.
