This is a special place for me as I met my future husband here for our first date. Met a gf there last night and disappointed is putting it mildly. The wine was great because it wasn't made at Cartwrights. We ordered the shrimp cocktail and the waygu appetizers. For $14 we received 2 shrimp, yes you read that right, TWO SHRIMP. They were not worth $7 each in any way. We questioned only 2 and the bartender said "there should be 4, I'll get you 2 more". He then returned to tell us that indeed there were only 2 because of weight". WHAT?!?! Then don't say there should be 4 and that you're getting us more. Simply unprofessional.
The waygu was ok but also very small and not worth the $16 cost. The man next to us ordered the Lobster & Crab Cakes and received 1, yes ONE. He started laughing at the ridiculousness of it. I'm not sure why you use a plural of "cakes" when it should be cake. He spoke with the manager and received another one but they never offered that to us.
So sad as I live in Carefree/Cave Creek and love to support local biz. The place was pretty much empty and maybe this is why. Disappointing to see a neighborhood gem decline like this. They have great long time wait staff but are certainly missing Roni and Loni at the bar and more quality food. I came home and ate my Pei Wei leftovers since I was still hungry.
