I've been here three times: once in the mid 1970's, once in the mid-90's, and again just now. The tiniest of bookstores still has an excellent curated collection (we were impressed with finding nifty things in only three shelves of children's books), two comfy chairs to sit down in, not enough room to swing a cat in (dead or alive), and a friendly proprietor (albeit a different one now). The major improvement is it no longer smells like unfiltered gauloises and must. So I have to say it's better than ever. If you're a book lover and want to do the grand tour of the best of Montreal, even though it's microscopic -- maybe because? -- this is a can't miss stop. I still marvel it manages to stay in business, but perhaps the lack of overhead (literally) helps. Either way, drop in.
