My wife and I stopped in on 8/8/17 at PetSmart on Bell Road to pick up some crickets for our lizards. While waiting in the checkout line we noticed the pet grooming room which was about 10-15 feet away. We witnessed a female dog groomer grooming a medium sized dog and we were taken back when we saw how this female groomer (she had tattoos on her forearms) was mishandling the white poodle type dog under her control.
The dog was visibly shaken and was being restrained, very frightened and being treated very poorly. This handler was grabbing, pulling and had a very tight grip on this dog and this dog made many attempts to nip at this female groomer. We did not wittiness any kindness toward this dog as it was being restrained while being groomed and we felt that this dog was being treated in such an frustrated (by the female groomer) manner scaring this small dog. We reported what we saw to the cashier and she also agreed that this dog was not being treated with any form of kindness.
If anyone is considering having their pet groomed here we would recommend remaining within sight of your pet while it was being groomed or seek grooming services elsewhere.
