So I give this place three stars, but mostly for convenient and nostalgia. It's a cool silver-metal old-fashioned diner that looks like it's been there for decades. It's basically on the parking lot of the NC Music Factory in Charlotte. Sometimes, celebrities and artists who are performing at the Fillmore will make an appearance,( but only the cool ones like Jack Black who kindly chatted it up with fellow diners before his show). It's convenient and neat, but not somewhere you'd go out of your way to eat at.
The prices are fair and it's the kind of food you'd expect (burgers, fried foods, etc.) And this is going to seem random, but bathrooms are for paying customers only (bathrooms are hard to come by before events...)
So my husband and I recently ate hear before the Hozier show. We couldn't decide what we wanted so we got two burgers (served with fries), a side of mac and cheese, and an "adult grilled cheese." So, burgers were bland - I threw most of mine away even after I tried dowsing it with ketchup. The fries were terrible! Really really terrible! Cold, soft, unsalted, just terrible. They went in the trash. The Mac and cheese was interesting... First they used bow tie noodles and maybe velvet a cheese, but it wasn't as good as it sounds. It really needed salt and pepper to make it palatable.
Now, the winner here was the adult grilled cheese! It was served on thick bread that was perfectly grilled and really had a slight (but pleasant) sweetness to it. Tons of cheese and it was just really tasty!
I'd do a repeat but would only order the grilled cheese next time. Still, it's a neat place in a convenient location. So it gets three stars from me!
