I was recently invited to an event at the Arizona Jewish Historical Society; the event was catered by Dancing Chef Catering and offered "Polish delights". I had the opportunity to taste Polish food and must say that I was surprised to see what the chef had to offer. A large dish filled with dry cheese and potato pierogi's devoid of any flavor, garnish or appeal. That is not what I remember from my travels to Poland where pierogi's are a culinary genre of their own; flavorful and beautifully served; some fried, some straight out of water drizzled with butter and sautéed onion or simply sprinkled with dill or parsley. Hummus and pita bread are not at all a Polish delight. Fresh rye bread with a crispy crust with home made white cheese garnished with fresh herbs might be a better example... Polish women are famous for their beautiful cakes and their amazing presentation. Dancing Chef Catering offered none of that. So very disappointed, I was really looking forward to some Polish delights.
