Well having stayed here before I was SHOCKED at this !! Do NOT "Pre Pay" a room online with this hotel !! I did book and pre-pay online with a credit card when I arrived they photocopied my drivers license took an imprint of my credit card AND asked me for a 250 dollar CASH deposit for the room once I got there !! "oh you get it back when you check out" the desk clerk replied. I asked WHEN this "policy" came into effect. As staying there before with NO problems and I wanted an explanation of this "new policy". I noticed they had new staff - probably new owners as well. Well the clerk did not really have an explanation for this. I pointed out TWICE "the room is already PAID for and you are asking me for 250 CASH right NOW ?" Also on my hotel bill there is a 1.00 "charge" for the room safe which I did NOT use !! I will NEVER stay there again !! I have stayed in upscale hotels all over Canada and the US and NEVER encountered this type of crap before. They tax you on the room, then a tourism levy of $ 3.60 THEN they tax you ON the GST as well when you have ALREADY paid the GST !! Think TWICE about staying here. I will never stay at this hotel again after this. Its too bad because I am in the city frequently and its easily accessible. Heck I will sleep in my CAR before I stay there. Just a bunch of money-grabbers hiding behind "oh its policy". THIS kind of "surprise" I do NOT need ! I am sure I am not the only one ! Oh I got there and the room was hot as hell !! I turned the thermostat down and went to open the window - NO HANDLE !!!! I tried to turn the AC on (after it being located on TOP of the door ! Had to use a chair !!) It would not turn on !! I called the desk and they sent a guy up to turn it on. Yup a real dump that is not maintained and they GOUGE their guests !! Yuck NO more No Thanks !! I'll pay extra somewhere else and not get screwed.
