I decided to come here for a bridesmaid dress fitting based on the great reviews. My husband had a few jackets to get tailored so we figured we'd both head downtown for this.
I had a pretty standard dress, but it needed a belt and straps added. Other than that, it needed hemmed and taken out just a touch. The seamstress was taking notes and measurement. We had a lengthy discussion about taking the dress out due to the fact I am pregnant. I felt good about the initial meeting.
The day I was scheduled to pick up the dress, I got a message that it wasn't done and could I come in a few days. We selected a date and time. I showed up and she was surprised I was there and let me know my dress still wasn't done. My event is now a week out. I was comfortable with her making some more modifications without me trying again, and asked if I could at least make sure the dress wasn't too big since I've never had a dress taken out before and my size was changing. Long story short - she took the dress in...significantly...by mistake. I literally could not get the dress on and had less than a week before the wedding.
After some back and forth, she acknowledged she should have taken the dress OUT, not it. On top of that, the straps were ridiculously uneven, the dress was hemmed to the point where you could see my ankles, and the belt wasn't on.
At this point I was fearful I'd have to tell the bride I couldn't wear the dress. The seamstress said she'd work on it and I could pick up the next day. After agreeing on a time, I got a text while outside the building that the dress was not done and could I come back another time.
At the end of the day, I made four trips to this seamstress. The results were subpar. There were no apologies for the mistakes. I was charged full-price (she did agree to a $20 discount after I pushed). And, my husband had to go back again for his jackets (and after I had prepaid for everything when picking up my dress, she pushed my husband saying she had no record of payment).
I realize I am one of the few who had a poor experience, and maybe it was a fluke, but I'd certainly think twice about relying on this place for wedding related needs.
