Been a member for more than awhile now. Obviously the main reason and best reason to join the Culinary Union is the health benefits. Especially if you have dependents, which I do not.
A few weeks back, I received an email about $8 Alcohol Awareness Training (TAM Card) for members via http://Culinary.AlcoholCard.org. I dismissed that email, since I do not deal with serving or selling of alcohol in my present job capacity. But opportunities come up and it was now something I needed. I must say that the convenience of online training, that was traditionally done in a classroom setting, was great! I go at my own pace, on my schedule, taking breaks or procrastinated on my own schedule. But in the end, that portion of it was knocked out in 1/2 a day.
To complete the rest of the steps that included:
1) printing out my "diploma" to take to the cashier at the Culinary Union Building, then
2) clipboard with double-sided paper with your 17 True or False exam questions and 3 Multiple Choice questions is given to you for the proctored exam.
With the roadwork, the detour took longer than the actual exam. Which is the practice exam you take at the end of the online course.
Anyway, today was possibly my first time coming here, or the second. The building was mostly vacant, maybe it was due to the fact that it was around lunchtime. But my objective was achieved with the minimum expenditure of time, so all good!
