Bar Cloakroom is an illusion. It may not actually exist. But if you happen across this mirage you will be well rewarded, my fellow sojourner. The atmosphere is simple yet intimate. The bar chairs comfortable. And the lighting will give your pupils some exercise at first.
The drinks? The drinks (and that's what we came here for, right?) are amazing. Our bartender, Emily, was fantastic. This is a good time to say that if you happen across the Cloakroom, leave everything you know about cocktails behind. If you go in and order your "usual", that is your prerogative and I'm sure you'll be pleased with the result. But this is the type of place you go into and just tell the bartender what you like (rum, gin, bourbon, and fruity, sweet, citrus, etc) and let them work their magic. Emily's understanding of balance and sweet vs sour is unparalleled. Like a great chef she blended bitters, booze, syrups, and fruit into masterful recipes. And, most importantly, they were delicious.
Her and Mike made great conversation and were as friendly as could be. And both were knowledgeable about their craft and helpful with local recommendations. I live 2000+ miles away and can surely say that I'll be back.
...although, it was just a mirage.
