My wife and I moved to Vegas in 2011 and purchased a house that needed considerable work. Since then we've extensively renovated every square inch of the house from floors to roof. With the interior nearly done it was time to move on to the yard, and that meant refinishing the pool. Our pool was built in the early 90's using the first/original Pebbletec. The finish was original and like the rest of the house the pool had been neglected. It was really showing it's age. I asked my neighbor who maintains a few hundred rental properties in Vegas who the best pool replaster company was. He didn't hesitate to say BND. From there I checked out reviews on Google. I liked what I read so I called for an estimate. Jody came out to the house and explained every step of the renovation process. We liked the look and strength of the Pebbletec but, it was abrasive on our feet and I always found pebbles in our pool filter. Jody assured us their "Island Pebble" was a much refined finish compared to our original Pebbletec. We signed on a few days later. Work began as schedules and the crews were all fantastic. I work mainly from home so I was here through most of the work. Everyone was professional, courteous and very hard working. Jody came back to check on every step of the progress. My neighbor had their pool replastered a few years ago and I saw the crew using a large sandblaster to etch the surface. I asked Jody when the sandblaster comes? He said that's a different procedure than the "chip out" system BND uses. With a chip out, all the original finish is 100% completely removed with air chisels down to the gunite framework then an entirely new finish is laid down. With the "sandblast" technique the existing finish is etched with a sandblaster then new finish is laid over the old. Chip out is a much more labor intensive but it is much less likely to fail in the future. Jody told me BND does not do sandblast, only chip out installs. I knew right then we made the right decision. After chip out the tile crew came. They did an excellent job installing the perimeter tile we selected. Our pool having been built in the early 90's had two rows of mosaic tile to accentuate the steps and landings. Jody recommended we go with the more modern single row. My wife and I liked this idea. When the tile was laid there was a miscommunication and the tile crew laid a dual row of mosaic tile. As soon as Jody saw this he insisted they remove it and re-tile it the way we requested. This added an extra day to the job (at BND's expense) but it was very reassuring that Jody was insistent the pool be perfect. The new tile looks absolutely fantastic. Finally the refinish crew came the following day. I was surprised how quickly they were able to install the Island Pebble finish. This was a larger crew but again they all worked diligently and wasted no time. The following day was the acid wash and fill. Our property was cleaned and there was absolutely no debris of any kind in the pool when refill began. The Island Pebble finish is much, much smoother than our original Pebbletec. The little stones are tumbled smooth and fully embedded in the plaster. There is no way they will come loose in the future and the finish is a joy to walk on. Refinishing a pool is not cheap, especially with a premium finish. A pool is a major investment in any home and can be a source of great enjoyment or a MAJOR headache if things aren't done correctly. I had no interest in fooling around when it came to refinishing our pool. Do it once, do it correctly and enjoy the return on your investment trouble free for many years to come. I have absolutely no doubt with proper maintenance and cleaning our new finish from BND will last us another 25+ years. Many thanks to BND. We HIGHLY recommend them!
