I am glad that someone already wrote about the insensitivity and bad customer service that the vet gives to the clients. I have visited Dr Day with my dog and too had high hopes for his ability to care for my pet. The staff however, from day one, was very abrupt, belittling, distrustful and treated me as if I was trying to get away with something. I have taken my dog for 9 years to a different vet with no issue and so going to Dr Day was for a second opinion. Each time I came to the vet they led me into an small room with a dog scale and said I should "wait here" closing the door behind them. I would wait for 10 to 15 minutes each time. This is not a welcoming lobby it is a stark room with a cement floor and two chairs. But I could put up with that...My problem with Dr Day and his staff is whenever you question anything they say it is "policy". I think my experience with this veterinarian is that he must have of complaints because he makes you sign huge "legal" forms for simple things. Last week I called in advance to let the staff know I was going to be picking up my dog from boarding. I thought this was a polite notice. When I got there I was told that I would have to pay my bill before seeing my dog. I said that's fine, but truly it seemed like a very cold and odd greeting. Honestly I started wondering about the care my dog had been given. I told the person I could pay my bill now but she told me that she did not have the skill needed to print out my bill and process my credit card. She said that only Karen (I believe) could do that. I said, "Fine I can pay y bill whenever she is available but could you please go get my dog because I haven't seen him in a week." She sort of frowned and put her hands to her hips saying, "No, you can't have your dog until we are sure you pay your bill". I said something to the effect that this was rather crazy since I called in advance, I am willing to pay the bill and yet they were in effect holding my dog hostage. She said that is "policy". I said, then it is a crazy policy because I shouldn't have to wait for an unknown time just because you can not run your credit card machine. She raised her voice, apparently calling attention to Dr Day in the exam room off the hallway and said, "You can't talk to me that way". Then Dr Day came out and said, "Is there a problem here". I said, "Yes, I do not know if you are aware how unprofessional and rude your staff is, every time I come in they treat me as if I am trying to steal something. I want to pay my bill and get my dog but she doesn't know how to run the machine or issue my bill. Rather than get my dog she is telling me I can't see him until your staff is apparently good and ready, and I haven't seen my dog in a week, so I don't understand why she can't bring my dog out now and I will pay my bill when whomever gets me the bill and processes my credit card." Dr Day said that it is "policy" to do it that way. I said, "Well your policies don't make a lot of sense and your staff is always rude and disrespectful. I feel like they are always holding my dog hostage for payment and I have never once told you I would not pay for his treatments or care." The other person came and processed my credit and they brought out my dog. I turned around and left. Then today I received a letter in the mail telling me that because I was unhappy my "account is closed" and that I should take my dog some where else. To this I would totally agree because if they can treat humans who can speak like that, I truly wonder and fear for what my dog had to go through during his week of boarding. I can not recommend Dr Day because his clients are treated pitifully and he apparently is okay with this treatment. There are plenty of vets in the valley and I am sure that one and all can find a much more welcoming staff. I don't disagree with what the former poster said about them threatening to hold his dog hostage and call the police because essentially the same thing happened to me. I will find out if I can report this incidence to the Veterinarians board of medicine. I would think that they too must have some sort of governing board to keep Veterinarians on the straight and narrow. Its too bad Dr Day chooses to do business like this, apparently he is not the warm and loving doctor that you think vets to be and his staff is even further from that, they remind me of disgruntled workers who are reminiscing about how miserable their life is, because truly they show no joy in there work ethic. PS my husband also went to the clinic once and said that he was totally ignored and felt that he was bothering the staff. Do not waste your time going to the animal clinic.
