Don't be fooled by lube shops. They are ok if you want a quick oil change but be careful.
I don't think that they make any money on just changing your oil. Every time I have gone in the past they always try to sell you a bunch of other flushes and services that are likely not needed. I think this is where they make their money.
The other thing is that most places employ teenage kids who likely don't really have much experience or knowledge. I know that they aren't licensed mechanics, that's for sure.
So would I got if I just needed a quick oil change and didn't have time to get to a real automotive shop.....yes.
Would I depend on them as a regular stop and to keep my vehicle maintenance up to date. Also would I depend on them to keep me vehicle in safe working condition....No
