My first appointment at Desert Dental was January 16, 2014. I went in for a 6 month check up and cleaning, a normal routine visit. They did more X-rays than I have ever had done by a dentist in my entire life and the technician even apologized for the quantity but stated "the good thing is you won't need all these done again for 8 years." Really!?! What was the point? Then the hygienist informed me that I really needed a laser therapy due to one pocket that was pretty bad and your insurance doesn't cover it. I went ahead and had the recommended procedure and paid the $150.00 extra my insurance didn't cover. Then I received the explanation of benefits from my insurance company stating what they paid and what my portion was... Wait a minute total over charge! They overcharged me $70! I contacted Desert Dental and they apologized and told me I had a credit on my account. Okay I will be going to the dentist again so I didn't worry about it! Last week my tooth started to ache so I contacted the dentist and made an appointment for today, April 14, 2014. I left work early, signed in at the dentist to be informedthat as of January 1 they no longer accept my insurance! What! I was there on January 16! They should have sent a courtesy notice or at least informed me during one of our conversations since my original appointment. Unbelievable, thank you for wasting my time and enjoy those X-rays that are good for 8 years!
