After Caribou closed, I was kind of mad. Who was this stupid Peet's Coffee, and where there heck was my beloved Caribou?! After a few months of mourning, though, I decided to try Peet's anyway.
The menu is a lot more grown up than Caribou's, and definitely has a lot fewer "floofy" coffee drinks. If you know how to order it, though, you can get pretty much anything Caribou offered, with the exception of the little candy toppings (or so I'd assume).
I follow a low carb diet for health reasons, so I usually get plain coffee with cream. I decided to go all out and order a cafe breve for the first time there (it's like a latte made with half and half instead of milk-- fewer carbs, more fat) in the sugar free vanilla flavor (which, btw, is their ONLY sugar free flavor, which is sort of sad). Holy moly, people-- it was amazing. Like hands down the BEST latte/breve I've EVER had. The coffee is so smooth I could guzzle it. It even prompted me to bring home a pound of whole beans to grind into my own espresso. Seriously-- I'm absolutely hooked.
My daughter loves the hot chocolate, which they'll make with any type of milk base, and my hubby the green tea latte. We also tried the matcha green tea latte, but it was awful. Not Peet's fault, though-- it's just that apparently, on that day, I learned that matcha was definitely not something I like. LOL.
Oh, they also offer almond milk, which is awesome. Unfortunately it isn't unsweetened, so I cannot partake due to a bit of sugar, but it's a good option for others.
It's too bad it's 8 p.m. right now. I want a breve just from writing this. LOL
