Went there to buy a Laptop, they had an Asus X540 laptop for $250. I thought it would be great as I'm a grad student. I got the laptop home, it did not connect to my Wi-Fi. I tried a few things I saw online on how to configure it and nothing worked. A few days later I had a friend come over, although he works in IT he also could not get the computer to connect and he suggested I call my internet service provider. I made an appointment with a technician for later that week. The technician came, check all wires and router configuration and said all is ok with their side and the problem must be the computer . I went back to Best Buy , told them I need a Laptop for school and this is perfect if I can get it to connect. They replied that it's not their issue that it does not connect. I asked them if maybe the Geeksquad can take a quick look, Maybe something in the configuration is off. The Best Buy rep said it will cost $100. I told them the whole laptop is only $250 so it's really not worth it. All this time the reps were hostile and gave me the feeling that I was a nuisance to them like a fly in a soup. I asked to talk to the manager and she also didn't care to help me solve my problem. I told her I would like a refund but since it was past 15 days she refused to do so. I explained that it took me that long because I was trying to figure out the problem. The manager insisted that they won't be issuing a refund and when I asked for the Geek Squad to to take a quick look at the internet settings she demanded that I pay $100 upfront. She was rude and inconsiderate. I even called Best Buy customer service which refused to help. When I told Wess the service rep that I would like to get a supervisor he kept me for 20 min (no joke) while he was typing (i have the call recorded). I talked to consumer affairs and they had advised me to take my case to the Small Claims Court which I will. I advise everyone here to do the same, to file a claim is a small amount of money. Some corporations think they can step on the little person. So if you are more then just talk and no actions and you got a justified case, take it to the Small Claims Court. I will update as to my case date and all.
