Historic park, established as an industrial site in 1862 for the making of munitions, an important supply of weapons during the Civil War. Remembered as the location of a tragic accident and tremendous explosion that reverberated for 2 miles. 78 lives were lost, mostly young female workers. Today this is a lovely tree lined park in Lawrenceville, a welcome refuge with wonderful shade.
