Several months ago, i ordered a windshield replacement for my wifes' 2010 Chrysler Town and Country through Progressive Auto Insurance. The tech came out to our apt at Alta Mesa. He raced through through the repair in and in no time he was done. I noticed something right away about the repair. The new glass seemed much thinner than the original and i was right. One week after the repair, a small, tiny pebble came off of a car on the 202 freeway in front of us. It struck on the top of the windshield, just to the right of rear view mirror mount. At first, we saw a tiny little chip appear at the impact site. Later that morning, we were eating breakfast at a local cafe, when a customer approached our table and told us he saw a crack "walk across the windshield" of our minivan, as he sat in the lobby, waiting to be seated. Sure enough, we walked out and the windshield was history. By the end of the week, there was two big cracks. One was a "u-shape" that framed the rear view mirror mount and the other went from the upper right corner down to the lower left. I took our van to the East Mesa Location of Safelite at Recker and McKellips. I was greeted by their receptionist in the lobby. When I told her what happened, she immediately said, "I'll get my manager." They came out to my van together and he touched the cracks on my windshield and gave my van the once over. "This was caused by rocks, were not responsible, so were not going to cover this!" So I said to him, "So you're telling me I'm a liar." He just smirked, turned his back on me and he and the receptionist went back inside the office. Having no other option, I had to have it repaired again by a competitor, and the new glass seems much thicker and harder. We continue to drive on the 202 and US 60 and rocks continue to bounce off our windshield(6 so far)and he haven't received even a tiny chip yet. I don't know for a fact that East Mesa Safelite cuts corners and buys cheaper, thinner glass. But when it comes to the safety of my wonderful wife of 22 years, I would spend any amount of money. We just moved back to Arizona after living in Indiana for 15 years. Repair shops there stand by their work. Why does it seem that here in Mesa, you at the mercy of these shops and they act like they can do whatever they want to whomever they want. Yelp and Google Reviews seem to be the only thing they pay attention to. As far we are concerned, Satelite has lost our business for life! I will pray to the Lord and ask for more patience and forgiveness.
