The employees at this Sam Ash store are awful!!! They always have such a problem with customers testing out instruments in the store, and they are incredibly rude about it. It's a music store for God sakes!!! Don't get me wrong, employees at other major music stores such as Guitar Center can be very rude too, but the employees at Sam Ash are down right disrespectful. I've been going here relectantly throughout the years, because their selection is pretty good, but it's never a pleasant experience. A few years back when I was looking at at a drum kit that I was interested in possibly buying, I used the provided test sticks that they have sitting out for customers to test the drums, and played it softly for about 30 seconds. A rude female employee came up SCREAMING at me, saying "this isn't a f**king concert, and it's not your own personal place to rock out, so knock it off or you'll be outta here!!!" Like I said before, IT'S A MUSIC STORE!!! If a customer wants to test out an instrument for a few seconds, it's extremely inappropriate to yell at them and make a scene. In the music business, an employee's bad attitude can cost the store an instrument sale, and instruments are not cheap by any means, so that's a pretty big deal. If you provide test sticks for the drums and test picks for the guitars, a customer has every right to test out the instrument, especially considering how much they cost, and how important of an investment they are. I also had an issue once where I bought a Tama Iron Cobra double bass pedal from Sam Ash, and it broke, so I took it back to see if they could fix it or send it to be fixed. The guy that looked at it said "it's not broken, there's nothing we can do" and walked away. The hinge on one of the pedals literally had so much play in it that it would lift up off the base plate, preventing the pedal from working correctly. Needless to say, I went somewhere else and got it fixed. Moral of the story, avoid Sam Ash, and buy your instruments at either small, family-owned music stores or online.
