I can't help the eye roll that comes on when yet another "speakeasy" opens up in the city. It's not that I don't think the concept is fun, it just feels like we're a bit saturated over here. There's also an automatic level of pretentiousness that comes with the territory. Also... is the "draw of secrecy" ruined if I review it on a forum as public as Yelp? ALL THAT SAID I really, really like this place. As far as Speakeasy camouflage goes, they get it right. I'm sure other reviews will explain what happens when you walk in. I won't, and suggest you don't go looking either because it's a fun surprise! Once you're in, it's hard to tell what beats what...The ambiance? The service? The cocktails? They're all fantastic. After making our way into the bar, we actually paused to take in what we were seeing. This is design at its best. The space itself is small and the lighting is kept dark but what it achieved is a sleek, intimate setting that oozes genuine sophistication. There isn't much/any room for large parties (4 people is pushing it) in the main area but I do believe there are one or two private rooms available for medium-large groups. The service is beyond attentive, as professional as it gets and I'm not even talking about the mixologists yet. Our coats were offered to be taken by a lovely man who showed us in. Glasses of water were brought out without asking (let's be honest, a rarity at most drinkeries) and constantly refilled. We were checked on often and with such politeness. As for the mixologists, I cannot begin to explain how much they know their craft. The drink I got was... maybe the best I've had in the city? Definitely up there. I'm not able to tell you exactly what it was because they don't have a menu- a mixologist assesses your favourite liquors and concocts something almost totally personalized, just for you! It's a nice touch. I indicated that I was in the mood for something floral, and he delivered in the form of an amazing bergamot(!!!)/elderflower/lime cocktail. That's right, their cabinet actually includes bergamot liqueur. This is an awesome spot for dates/ an intimate night with a close friend. It's definitely more suited towards cocktail lovers, but they don't seem like the kind of place that will make you feel bad for ordering a beer.
