Stay away. Something is rotten in the store of Bulldog. I have been going to Bulldog for the past 8 years about once or twice a year (whenever I am in Toronto). I have been greeted by Stuart in his various moods, but one thing that has been consistent is the quality of espresso. Stuart is very, very good. It's why I keep going back. BUT... today the "barista" (not Stuart) was so poorly skilled/trained that there was no connection to what Stuart is about. This employee kept the portafilters out of the machine letting them get cold and causing bitterness (a basic no-no), I asked for ristrettos and he/she did not know, so I clarified and he/she pulled shots (about 10 seconds long... another no-no) through the cold portafilters into shot glasses and poured that into cold porcelain. The result was flat, bitter liquid (that's really bad). Has Stuart sold the place? Something is rotten.
