It has taken me several weeks of thought to decide to write this review. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE THIS EMERGENCY ROOM. Take the time to drive to a real hospital with an attending staff qualified and caring. As an elderly woman (70 yrs) I should have known not to climb a tall ladder in my home without someone to assist, but I was anxious to get moved in to my new home and to place drapes. I fell from a 10' ladder catching my foot and landing on my face/nose and right side. I woke in a puddle of blood, called family to come, and headed to Thompson Peak Med Center (closest) because I was almost certain that my nose (If not my cheek) was broken. The waiting room was not very busy (even though a Sunday) but I waited over 2 hours before being taken to an examination room. Great, I thought. Not. I sat on the exam table for another hour waiting for anyone to come back (alone- no nurse). Finally, a nurse and doctor came in. From the doorway, without even examining me, the doctor told the nurse to get xrays and a catscan. Another hour, but progress I thought. Unfortunately, after being returned to the exam room, I waited (again alone) for anyone to give me the results. Finally, after 2 additional hours, I 'd had enough and asked a nurse wandering by the room to find someone to find and provide discharge papers so that I could leave. A different doctor returned with the papers ( earlier doctor had gone off duty) very incensed that I wanted to leave. Again, without even walking near the exam table he indicated to the nurse to put "minor contusions" on the discharge papers and left. The next day, a neighbor took me to a neighborhood medical office since by now my eyes were swollen shut, I had to breathe from my nose, my face was black, and I just plain hurt all over. Turns out - - I have a broken nose, cracked eye socket, and two broken ribs on my right side (no one even considered this). Oh, and within a week I'd received a massive bill for the excellent work provided at Scottsdale Honor Thompson Peak. I have been in contact with Medicare and my other insurance provider about disputing this bill. Sure hope SHTP has malpractice coverage. They are going to need it.
