Yes, agreed, Wayne's Sushi is honestly a gem, and I don't like to use that word because its overuse has detracted a bit from its impact, so, I am going to take it one step further. Wayne's Sushi is a Jem, which means it is as outrageously good as one of my top 5 all time favorite cartoon characters. Half of the charm of Wayne's is its location. Where is it? It is inside Shilla, which has to be pronounced like, "Holla!" There is no specific sign, just a small unassuming thing that announces "sushi." Go inside Shilla, take a hard left, and you will enter Wayne's world. The first time we went we arrived too late, and Wayne was super apologetic and told us when we came back he'd make it up to us. Fast-forward 6 months, and I was sure there was no way he would remember us. I was wrong. To make up for the previous visit, he sent over a Cajun ahi, a delicious fusion salad that is part Japanese, part Cajun with my favorite--spring greens! What makes Wayne's stand out are the sauces and seasonings. They are creative and tasty, perhaps used too generously from time to time, but no biggie. The miso cod was also a standout, one of the best I've had in terms of the flavor. It was addictive like butter. We didn't get to experience the karaoke Wayne as the restaurant was really busy when we went. If you go on a busier night, service can take a little long as it is just Wayne and his friendly wife. Still, the overall atmosphere puts you at ease, so unless you have somewhere to be or are just super anal, you probably won't mind too much. Also, the frying smell permeated my clothing, so I smelled like a big piece of tempura when I left. I like tempura, but it wasn't really my preferred smell for the evening. We need to make it back for the karaoke. I think that's the true secret ingredient.
