I brought my 07 Chrysler 300 in for a hard start issue. I thought it might be fuel related. After a day in a half, I was contacted by Christian and was told it was a bad spark plug. He said the car needed a complete tuneup to which the price would be $600 plus dollars. I asked how much for just the the spark plugs and he said $370 plus $106 for the diag. That seemed a bit much for 6 spark plugs. He explained that they charge what the book says it would take to complete the job which was 2.5 hrs. I asked if the job only takes 45 min you still charge 2.5 hrs, his reply was yes. Here's the problem I have. First, the dealer charges $280 for the same service. I've had both of my cars worked on at this location and for the most part I have been satisfied with the results, a little pricey but for the convenience of being around the corner from my house. I have a hard time believing that you charge by the hour and if the book says 2.5 hrs and it takes 45 min I will still be billed for 2.5 hrs, on top of, charging me for the diag even if you had done the work. So now i'm wondering how many other hours have I been charged for. I have never had a shop bill for hours not worked on top of charging for diag if they end up fixing the car. BAD BUSINESS! and to be honest, this sounds illegal to me. Billing for time you didn't work???? But never the less you can rest assured that I will NEVER bring my vehicles into firestone again to have work done. Oh! and by the way, I took my car to another shop and it wasn't the spark plugs.
