Alright, we REALLY wanted to like this one. The ones we have done in the past, we did all their rooms so it was time to find a new place. Since this one has a ton of options, we thought this could be our new place. Sadly, we wont be coming here again.
We had 10 people and rented out an entire room - Steampunk. We all had experience doing rooms before and we were a little worried we'd get through the room too fast based on having too many people. The problem is that it is 100% impossible to do the room without hints from the staff. In fact, it's nearly impossible to progress at all without a hint. Nothing is labeled in the room - so they tell you to do things that could be located in multiple parts of the room and look at specific dials or posters and decipher codes or words or numbers...we've done this all before at previous rooms we've been to. But here, there is no rhyme or reason to how these things are done. When they give you the hint or you figure out the next progression, we'd all look at each other like..."wow, that made absolutely no sense".
There are little to no 'common sense' clues, almost nothing is obvious, etc...for example the girls in our group ended up just sitting down because it just wasn't fun for them and there aren't multiple things going on at the same time. It takes one progression where you'd only need 2-3 people constantly asking for hints and deciphering things that no experienced room maker would design in such a way.
We ended up getting out with less than a minute left and when the door opened, we were all unsatisfied...even though we got out. You don't feel like you did anything, you just feel like you got hints the whole time, deciphered poorly constructed clues, and 2-3 people did all the work because you can only have so many people talking about the same thing or you can't figure anything out. In the end, I'd just skip this place and try out a place that has a solid 5 star reviews on Yelp.
For the company, I really think you need to work on your labeling. Simple labels throughout will help the entire thing have a flow to it. It'll still be difficult but at least you know that the substation you are looking at is the one you are supposed to be looking at when there are 6 options and they are all basically the same. Secondly, your 'stories' are too long and dont make any sense. I know you are trying to hide the meaning of things, but the meaning you are trying to hide MAKES NO SENSE. Like why would we order the middle initials by patent year...seriously it was so dumb...two stars is being generous
