When reviewing The Film Buff I mentioned that it was the only place this far out in central west Toronto that could compare to the indie video rental mainstays Suspect & Queen Video. That statement is not exactly true, if you go farther north to the Junction area of town there is a quaint little video rental shop called Big Daddy's DVD shop. Here is another independent, thoroughly hip, video rental spot that caters well to it's neighborhood. Lots of hidden gems to be found here. In fact, this is where I was recommended the indie film the American Astronaut, a great little black and white film that I'm really glad I got turned on to. As is the nature of independent video rental places you wont find a large Blu-Ray collection or 15 copies of the latest Hollywood blockbuster. You will find the Criterion Collection and plenty of films that make you say "Heeey, I herd about this film. I almost forgot about it. I herd it was really good..." Prices are reasonable and the staff seem friendly enough. The place has that cool indie vibe and really I can think of no reason not to go here if you love movies and live in the area.
