This is an excellent opportunity to see bats in the middle of a big city. I parked in an empty Church parking lot, a five minute walk away from the "cave." The timing was perfect, arrived at the Bat Cave at 7:30, which allowed time to enjoy the sunset and other wildlife (about a dozen cottontail bunnies, a full family of quail, and various other birds). Official sunset was 7:42, but that bats know better, because with such flat land, true sunset is delayed, and at 7:50 the bats started getting lively. By 7:52 they began exiting the cave en masse and continued to do so for about 15 minutes before things slowed down and it got too dark to stick around. I've never seen anything like it and would go back to see it again. Thousands of bats is no exaggeration.
