I have been going to the same dentist for multiple years but recently moved so I decided to go to Meridian Dental(Carl Metz,DDS) in Mesa, Az since it was closer to home. Well that was a huge mistake. Overall Carl Metz was very nice and informative, but come to find he was nice and informative because he was feeding me a bunch of crap and unnecessary BS. During my visit I was told I needed multiple fillings and/or filling repairs on my teeth, a crown on 2 seperate teeth and possibly a root canal on one, in total I need something done to 8 total teeth in my mouth. Essentially maxing out my Dental Insurance for the year right there after that visit. Now, I would not have a problem using all of my dental insurance if it was all completely neccesary, but it was not. I decided after thinking about it for a few days to return to my prior dentist for a 2nd opinion. Good thing I did, my prior dentist agreed I need a crown on 1 of my teeth and I will need a filling on another in the future but not quite necessary at this time, but the other 6 teeth he said "I do not see what Dr. Metz is referring too and you do not need fillings, a crown or even a root canal." Wow, thank god I went for the 2nd opinion because Dr. Metz was obviously trying to rip me off and take advantage of me as a new patient. I would like Dr. Metz investigated for his uncalled for, illegitimate practices. I will not be returning to his office and will tell all my family and friends about this awful experience.
