Ohhhh Lombardinos....I want to like you so bad...but! Ok turn up the lights! Starting with having to use the flashlights on our phones to see the menu should have tipped us off! When you can't see your food at all it's really too dark especially when you start wondering what the dark gloppy stuff is on your plate ! Five of us dined last night with a whopping $355 bill before tip and the waitstaff couldn't have been less engaged- doing their job but so dis-interested in our dining experience and ill-informed it was laughable! "Oh gosh I forgot what was in the special again" the scallop dish used small scallops three to be exact instead of the proper size #10s for a dinner entree at $29... the red peas?? Huh??? Were hard and raw and tasteless and the roast parsnips hard, we couldn't see what else was in the dish but all three of us left it at the bottom after we ate the tasty scallops- I was pleasantly surprised when I was told I could do two 1/2 entrees and got to try the rabbit ragu and ravioli (delicious) and my old favorite eggplant parmesan napoleon (tasty but you're not cooking your eggplant enough as it's hard and raw in the middle!) when posed with appetizers suggestions to share for five we settled on calamari and the bruschetta after I asked the waitress to add to the order so there were enough for all of us she presented two plates with two pieces of bread on each and a knife! What??!?! Salads were tasty and fresh- not sure if we misunderstood how the ice cream dessert was supposed to be ordered but when the five tiny single scoops of salted caramel ice cream arrived we'd wished we'd have ordered more! Is that really how it's served? A golf ball scoop per person or were we supposed to order the three scoop dessert and mix the flavors...again- stepford waitress and her giggly explanation left us wanting more of the delicious ice cream but by then she was no where in site- our reservation was at 7pm and we were the last guests in an empty ghost town of an aging Italian restaurant at 9pm! Will come back again probably but would really like to be wowed like the old days! At close to $450 including tip (two bottles of wine) things should have been stellar and visible!
