This poker room has some of the best action in Vegas if you're willing to tolerate a little age as far as the Grand is concerned. It's starting to show some cracks and wrinkles that betray the establishment's age, and the smoke can be more than inconvenient after hours of play. This is a great room to play for the morning tournament and stick around to get some action from tourists that are more than willing to get fleeced by anyone with a basic understanding of statistics and pot-odds. It's close to the books, coffee, post-felt drinks, and food. In addition, the wait staff and dealers are usually friendly. Table-talk depends on the crowd just like any other place. It needs a remodel, perhaps a little more shielding from distraction, especially when the clubs and shows let out. The HVAC should be upgraded to account for the lack of popularity smoking enjoys since the 19 years its been since it opened. The Grand is still a decent South-strip property, but it's competing with other properties like Hooters and Excaliber for all the wrong reasons. With other MGM properties bringing a great experience, the Grand needs to live up to its name and reputation where the majority of tourists experience it: downstairs.
