I worked with Tony Alder, his assistant Sol, and Lisa Taylor. Throughout the entire process they repeatedly sent me documents to sign that had multiple mistakes. I called them three or four times to see if they needed any additional information, and was repeatedly reassured that they had everything they needed and that my loan was on schedule to close on time, if not early. Then 4 days before I was supposed to close, when I hadn't heard from them, I called one last time to see if everything was corrected and ready to close. When they finally called me back it quickly became apparent that they hadn't reviewed my file until the day I called. Contrary to their prior reassurances, they claimed they hadn't yet received all of my documentation, and also told me I didn't qualify for a down payment assistance grant they previously assured me I would. Because they didn't tell me the real cost of the loan until days before I was supposed to close, and because the seller was unwilling to agree to extend my closing date, I had to choose between paying several thousand dollars (approximately $5k) more than their original loan estimate or losing the home. They were disorganized and unprofessional at every stage of the process, and their incompetence cost me. I guess that is the cost of education, and these are my cliff notes.
