Not the best, not the worst. It's a tall order to make a vegan burger, and it's a valiant effort, but Vegeway misses the mark in my opinion. Maybe I'm just a spoiled Californian with easy access to the Amy's brand's flagship restaurant but this place left a lot to be desired.
First of all, the restaurant itself lacks any design identity or personality. It feels very hodgepodge and thrown together. Not a good first impression.
We ordered the burger meals with curly fries- they were the highlight of the meal, fried to perfection and piping hot. The burger "supports"- bun, sauce, lettuce, onion, tomato were all nice and fresh, loaded on in-n-out style, and the vegan cheeze was also tolerable, but the patty itself was dry, crusty around the edges, and tastes too much like it's central ingredient- cabbage. The proprietor of the business also owns a vegan Chinese restaurant and it seems there's just a bit too much influence from Asian cuisine/flavors to truly call it the "American" style burger it's aiming to be. I love fusion cuisine when it's intentional and both styles of cuisine are complementary but this felt like the Asian essence was competing with the expected burger flavors.
While they have a few other offerings like popcorn chickin and a fysh sandwich, the menu left a lot to be desired, but it was reasonably priced and service was quick.
