A bad experience tonight resulting in a lost star and a complaint to head office. First the gentleman at cash didn't write down on the cup that I wanted NO FOAM; NO WHIP with my PSL. A mistake and not totally upset about that it - after I got it, it showed "XH W"; v. XH with W and F struck out or XH NF NW) A male Barista (gentleman/dark hair/glasses) made the drink and then I saw the whip cream. I was not 100% sure it was mine so I said nothing. He handed to me - and then another female barista took over to make another of my drinks. So I knew there was whip - and I would have still been fine with that. But the second I picked it up I knew it was loaded with foam. As I took a sip the cup had to go a fair amount back to get the drink. I then asked the woman to fix it. Thankfully the "milk" portion was still available - she began to scoop out the foam. In the middle she started to laugh "yeah there is a lot of foam". At least 1/3 of the Venti had to be scooped out. A full 3" from the top. This is 100% NOT standard. More like DOUBLE EXTRA FOAM. Or in my opinion an absolutely careless job. As a result I am emailing head office specifically about this. I saw this at the other location in Richmond Hill on Elgin Mills -- perfect example of not using a spoon and just pouring in. A ~$7.50 value drink with $2.50 of foam. Outrageous. The woman did fix the drink. The 2nd drink was a bit less so I asked her to fix that and she had to steam more milk but that was done. I have been burned before by careless Barista's of this sort - and today was the start of complaining of such things. At one Starbucks when I said "Whip/no foam" the Barista said "you don't need to say that - you either get WHIP or FOAM. We never give foam and whip typically." Well apparently not all Starbuck Barista's are trained equally. I have likewise asked this during my complaint to head office.
