I booked this room on points, so I spent a huge amount of points to get a room with a very high rate, expecting to get a nice view of the river, or anything. Instead I get a low level interior room with a view of nothing. That was problem #1 I had. Next, the room had a pocket door on the bathroom. Really? And this door was so tight that it couldn't be closed easily or properly. It also did not have a proper handle for this type of door. WiFi signal was weak. The room was large, with 2 queen beds, and a separate area where the desk was which was a strange triangular shape. It had no light and so was useless at night. That said, there were some good things about this hotel. As others have noted, some of the architectural features are great. Our interactions with the staff were great. We never had to open an outside door. We checked in late on Friday and noticed that we did not have enough towels and the front desk sent some up no problem despite the late hour (12:30 AM) and housekeeping not being staffed at that time. The ice machine on our floor didn't work, so I went 1 floor up and that one didn't work either. One of the staff noticed and offered to bring the ice right to my room - of course had the machines worked he wouldn't have had to. The best thing about this hotel was the bed. Most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. The location is also fantastic, especially of you are a baseball fan. We were in town for, among other things, a Pirates game. The hotel is at the opposite end of the Roberto Clemente Bridge from PNC Park. But overall, I was not overly impressed and did not feel that it was worth anywhere near the rate charged.
